Envelopes from Home
Envelopes from Home tells the story of the letters my mother and I exchanged throughout my 20 years of military service.

This project shares the envelopes from the correspondence between my mother and me, exchanged throughout my 20-year Navy career. Each envelope represents a connection to home, carrying love, encouragement, and the everyday news that kept us close across the miles.
Our correspondence began more than 50 years ago. The envelopes crossed oceans—some reaching me while I served in Japan, some delivered by helicopter during deployments, and others waiting quietly in a stateside mailbox. My mother and I wrote to each other weekly for 20 years. Sometimes packages included cassette tapes, allowing us to have audio “conversations” that I could play and replay during holidays, birthdays, and time away from home.
Through Envelopes from Home, I invite others to experience the sacrifice of service, the strength of family bonds, and the quiet resilience found in staying connected across the miles. This project honors the timeless power of connection—one envelope at a time.

God's Letter to You
